The US Coast Guard plans to replace the steering control system on USCGC Healy with a commercially available PLC-based design and install a deaerating feedwater tank for the boiler system. Work includes design, factory and dockside testing, underway testing, cybersecurity documentation, and onboard training. Performance runs from 1 April 2027 to 31 May 2030 at USCG or contractor facilities and aboard the ship in Portland, Seattle, and underway.
Who can win it
- Contractor must provide a commercially supported steering control system for at least 10 years
- Design must use programmable logic controllers and must not use proprietary software
- Contractor must designate a primary cybersecurity point of contact such as a CISO
